How to treat an infected piercing

Infection may take 24 to 48 hours for development and in most cases faster than that. With this in mind, you should think about your aftercare and what they did to cause infection.

Make sure holes are infected, and not really allergic to jewelry.

See your piercer immediately, but should be able to say what’s wrong, and to exchange the jewelry if you are unhealthy. If infected, you must submit a doctor.

Signs of infection include:

Redness and swelling, which is painful and warm to the touch

Drilling will leak white pus that can smell, but no pus can come out at all.

If drilling is obvious leaks – pale yellow liquid after the piercing is not infected. This yellowish fluid called lymph, and is a component of blood and it’s natural healing process.

A slight irritation is normal for drilling. Itching in the hole in the red, swollen throat, swollen, and the node (“Crusties” and drip) and more common. If you think you may have an infection, perforation check your piercer and / or doctor. Many infections require treatment with antibiotics. Remember that you have an infection, the more difficult to treat.
